Author: Shi Tiesheng
This section features a brief biography of the noted Chinese author Shi Tiesheng and translations of four of his short stories. The first is a new translation, by Noelle Lyle, of Shi Tiesheng's story “Stage Effects.” The three stories that follow are reprinted from the Bulletin of Concerned Asian Scholars (the predecessor of Critical Asian Studies), vol. 16, number 3 (1984). They are “Blacky,” translated by Michael S. Duke; “Lunch Break,” translated by Alison Bailey; and “One Winter's Evening,” also translated by Alison Bailey.
